In the 1950's & 60's before we had TV , life revolved around the radio; we listened to 2ZC in Napier - a very happy station. I even had an after-school job there putting records back in their covers and then into the record library. We had some great shows like "Life With Dexter", "Gun Smoke", "Night Beat", and "The Goon Show", to name a few.

And then there was the music, Wednesday night at 7.30 - "The Lever Hit Parade";  Saturday night - "The Top 40 Hits Of The Week". Music was always full of memories for me; the songs I listened to during summer holidays, the songs that reminded you of happy and sad events. Most of all, I love sharing music with other people.

I have been a presenter at Radio Dannevirke since 2018 with the "Hits of the Sixties" Saturday mornings.

Though my musical awakening was the 1970s, I was always drawn to the music of the 1960s; in my opinion, always the best decade for music.

As well as the music, I'm also intrigued by the trivia associated with the songs and bands.

Now retired after running my own Motor Trimming and Upholstery business. I have played a variety of sports including rugby, (Ross Shield 1962) and playing for the Excelsior Rugby Club, badminton, squash, tennis and golf.

I joined Dannevirke Radio 107 FM and have loved every minute of my time with the station. Tune in and you might be pleasantly surprised.

I'm a Mum and a Nana and have lived in Dannevirke for 25 years.

I currently have a 12 year old at home who is involved with numerous sports and school activities.

I enjoy music from all decades and genres and that's what I play for the listeners on my show on a Friday afternoon.

Born in Wairoa, I spent my formative years growing up in Mid Canterbury, hence my very biassed support of the Crusaders Rugby team and anything red and black.

I arrived in Dannevirke in 1981 and have not left the place … I originally taught French and English at Dannevirke High School and for the last 20 years have been running my own study skills business as well as working part time at Totara College. I love travelling and still have many countries to visit to complete my bucket list. I have two grown sons and two grandchildren.

I am a fanatic of 70s music and was a glam rocker, but also had a secret poster of Craig Scott on my inside wardrobe wall….

My show, "Easy Listenin' with Brian" airs on Wednesdays 10am - 1pm.

Coming from a fairly musical family, I play a wide range of popular music from the mid-fifties to now.

I really enjoy what I do - working with a great bunch of people at Radio Dannevirke and I hope to continue playing music you all like to listen to for a good while yet!

After retiring, I was asked to join Radio Dannevirke as a presenter - 'me', a retail manager; I decided to take on the challenge.

After 10 years behind the microphone, I am still thoroughly enjoying it.

I'm one of those presenters that thrive on giving 100% effort.

The Radio was always on while I was growing up. When I retired after spending 45 years in banking, I listened to the announcers on Radio Dannevirke and thought – I could do that. So, in 2010 I commenced the best job I have ever had as a presenter on Radio Dannevirke.

I believe I grew up when the best music ever was being played – the 1950’s and 60’s. I now play songs from this era as well as others, as long as it is easy listening.

I call my show Music and Memories with Murray, as music from that era brings back memories of the great request sessions at that time.

I am extremely proud to be Pops to three awesome grandchildren who all live in Dannevirke and are also keen Radio Dannevirke listeners. I am an active member of Dannevirke's Community Board and have always loved music.

I thoroughly enjoy my Monday lunch time show with all the listeners who ring in for requests and trivia competitions.

A great way to start the week!

I'm a local family man who is a proud Dad and Husband, and very proud ‘G-Pop’ to my grandchildren. When I'm not working, you'll find me at home in the yard, engaging in some DIY, or spending time with friends and family enjoying great coffee, great food, and great Kiwi wines.

I have been involved with Radio Dannevirke for almost 20 years now and enjoy the opportunity to be part of a local voluntary organisation.

Growing up in a rural area, radio was the main source of musical entertainment - music from the 60s & 70s is what it's all about.
